When a firewall dies it’s tempting to slap it on your desktop network and get to re-imaging, but remember this one tidbit. If it’s late in the day and you finish with it sitting at the setup prompt after the image installs you’ll have a nasty surprise the next morning or later that evening. Turns out the management interface starts serving up DHCP addresses to clients on the same VLAN it’s attached to.
