No I’m not saying Apple is going to make a ton of money on News+, which they probably will. It’s a gold mine for people like you and me. The first few weeks of the service I was a bit meh, but saw I got charged 9.99 and kicking myself for not killing it beforehand to see if the service fleshes out more later I decided to browse the magazines again.
The selection has grown leaps and bounds. There are dozens of magazines I would normally buy one or two of every few months. Now they’re all there in their glory and viewing them on my iPad Pro vertically is just plain awesome. The only one who’s going to complain about this is Barnes and Nobles when their magazine sales fall through the floor.
For the price of a single magazine Apple News+ provides hundreds of magazines every month. For me that’s a huge boon now that I can just download them all to my iPad and view them at my leisure and those who put the effort into formatting like the latest Linux and Mac Format magazines have made their publications look excellent. Others not so much, but I’m sure they’ll catch up.
For now I’m going back to enjoy some of my downloaded magazines and for once I don’t feel bad about the price tag. It’s a money saver long term for me. Hopefully it’s the same for you.
